Research and Planning: Magazine So Far
This is my magazine so far, after having a discussion with my teacher I realised that I has to change the font on my front cover because it was too 'polite' and it had to be more in your face.

Research + Planning: Model Head Shots
I chose Danny as my main model as he listens to the alternative music that this magazine is promoting meaning he has the look I need for my magazine.
I chose Becca as my other model as she also listens to the same type of music and she has the alternatve look.

Research + Planning: Magazine So Far
Using my peers advice I modified my magazine to make it look better, I also added a few coverlines which I may change in the future.
Research + Planning: Masthead Plan
I consulted with a few other students who advised me that the best font to use would be the third one down.

Research + Planning: Pose Research
From looking that these magazines of my genre for pose research I have found that they are all shot from a medium long shot and all of them are looking straight into the camera. I think this is to make it look more intimidating so it easily catches the readers attention and also fits to the genre of music. Also when it is a band shot (which I could choose for my front cover) the main singer is always larger and more in the foreground where as all of the other band members are shown in the background.
From this I think I will have my model stood front on the the camera and looking straight down the lense.
Research + Planning: Weather Forcast
This is the weather forcast for the next few weeks, using this I will need to plan which are the best days for me to shoot outside, I will need to choose a day when it is not raining and I would probably prefer it to be sunny however abit of cloud wont ruin my shoot.

Research + Planning: Looking for a Location?
I started looking at what other magazines used for mise-en-scene however alot of magazines just used a plain background. I think I want my image to be against a brick wall or in a run down area like a car park. I am still concidering this.

Research + Planning: Costume and Props List
Hairstyle:
My hairstyle will have to be quite bright or dyed in some places. I think I am going to temporarily dye my models hair red at the front as my main model already has dark hair and a fringe. This is why I chose her as my model.
Clothing:
This is the style of clothing that I want my model to wear throughout my magazine.
Props/Accesories:
I am going to buy some fake piercings for my model as it makes them look more alternative.

Research + Planning: Double Page Spread [Drawn Draft]

Research + Planning: Double Page Spread Comparisions
Similarities
All of the titles are big and bold and take up most of the page or have a large quote from the band that the page. Each one has a big picture of a band or solo artist in medium close up/ closeup. They all also have columns of text with more bold sub-headings. The most used colours are red, black, white and grey. Most of the magazines only use 2 or 3 colours.
Research + Planning: Serif/Sans-Serif
Sans-serif
Sans-serif fonts do not have any flourishes at the end of strokes.
I would use sans-serif for my titles because it is more bold and will catch peoples attention.
Serif
A serif is a small decorative flourish on the end of the strokes that make up letters and sybols.
I would use a serif font for my main bodies of text as when it is smaller as it is easier to read.

Research + Planning: Test Shots
This is a medium close up of my model. This is in natural lighting in the college coridoor.
This was meant to be an extreme close up of my watch, however I found it quite hard to get any closer.
This was a landscape shot of the inside of the college.
This is a medium close up of my model but outside.
This is an extreme close up of nature outside.
This is a landscape shot of the outside.
This is my model. I am using her as she generally looks more alternative and has the right haircut and makeup.
I would not use this person as my model. She looks more indie or pop than alternative.

Research + Planning: Make-up
A lot of bands choose not to wear extreme makeup in the alternative genre, the most that they would wear is normally the female singers can have quite heavy dark eye makeup and sometimes even the male singers. the main thing about this genre is making everything quite dark. However I could take inspiration from twenty one pilots like Josh Dunn has and put red circles around the eyes. Also I may have to use makeup to create fake tattoos or purchase some fake tattoos as most people associate alternative with tattoos and piercings. It also may be better for me if my model already has some piercings but if not I can use fake ones.
