The genre of this magazine is Alternative Rock, this is shown by the dark colours used and also the band on these two pages, MCR, are an alternative band. Also, the clothing and way the band members are represented is quite clearly stereotypical to the genre of Alternative Rock.
Target Audience
The target audience of this magazine is mostly teenagers as that is the classic fan age which are more likely to go out and buy music magazines to be up to date with the latest band gossip. I also think the target audience could possibly be female as they have used mostly males on this double page spread which could potentially be to attract more female readers. However, I don't think it is directed solely at females as the genre is quite dark and so is the magazine which is usually associated more with males.
Layout
On the left hand page it is mostly taken up by a big picture of the lead singer of the band that this page is dedicated to. This is probably used to draw attention as if the reader is flicking through the pages and sees a massive picture of their favourite band they're more likely to read about it. There is predominantly more pictures than text on this page which is probably again as the magazine is targeted towards a teenage audience who would probably rather not read as much. The whole page only consists of 3 colours; red, white and black, this is to keep the page looking consistent. At the top of the right hand page they have a massive quote from the band which catches your attention, this is to give the reader an idea of what the article is about before they read it. The text underneath is then two neat columns, the title is in a large bold font which also represents the genre and stands out.
